A Unique Combination of Functionality and Fashion

One of the standout features of Gentle Grey is its consistent and coherent horizontal and vertical structure. Wang meticulously combined layout, lines, and materials to achieve this harmonious design. The glass screen at the entrance, lined with iron pieces, sets the tone for the simple yet refined layout of the house. The horizontal space is arranged in an open plan, while the ceiling delineates different materials and color intensities, creating a visually striking effect. The vertical design utilizes lines to guide traffic flow, seamlessly connecting the dining room to the corridor through the ceiling's consistent style.

To bring Gentle Grey to life, Wang carefully selected neutral materials with simple patterns and natural textures. The use of Grigio Carnico marble for the TV wall in the public area, paired with light ink-like stone countertops in the dining room, creates an extraordinary atmosphere. The ceiling walls feature a special paint, while the facade and cabinets are adorned with water-stained wood veneer, iron, and metal elements. This combination results in a harmonious aesthetic that is both wild and elegant, perfectly capturing the essence of the design.

Spanning a 125-square-meter space with four rooms and a living room, Gentle Grey is an apartment complex project that prioritizes transparency, spaciousness, comfort, and relaxation. The open plan layout, coupled with the connection of lines and planes, creates a seamless flow throughout the space. Wang's choice of a steady neutral color tone emphasizes the correspondence between lines and materials, resulting in a cohesive design that plays with light and shade, straight lines, and arcs.

Gentle Grey is not just visually appealing; it also offers a functional and comfortable living experience. The living room and working area are strategically positioned along large windows, allowing ample natural light and stunning views. The large L-shaped sofa seamlessly connects to the desk, creating an open plan layout that promotes productivity and relaxation. The master bedroom is designed as a space for ultimate relaxation, complete with a functional dressing area and a door connecting to the dressing room.

Completed in May 2021 in Kaohsiung, Taiwan, Gentle Grey is a testament to Wang's meticulous research and attention to detail. The transformation of grayscale, shades, colors, materials, and lines was carefully executed to create a unique and customized atmosphere. The use of an open plan design, coupled with thoughtful furniture arrangement and storage solutions, ensures both functionality and artistic appeal.

Gentle Grey was awarded the Iron A' Design Award in 2022 in the Interior Space, Retail, and Exhibition Design category. This prestigious award recognizes designs that are well-designed, practical, and innovative, meeting professional and industrial requirements.
